Benefit Corporation

In February 2012, Greyston Bakery was the first company to register as a benefit corporation in New York State, which is a reflection of the pioneering attitude that still resonates at the Bakery after 30 years.

What is a Benefit Corporation?

A benefit corporation is a new class of business, a legal entity that is required by law to create a general benefit for society as well as for shareholders. Benefit corporations must create a material positive impact on society, and consider how their decisions affect their employees, community and the environment.

Transparency is the cornerstone of the Benefit Corporation movement and Greyston’s Benefit Corporation Report presents all of our current benchmarks and goals for the future.
